The Association for the Aged (TAFTA), a Global Ageing Network member, actively participated in the 2024 Global Rally as all members were encouraged. Femada Shamam, TAFTA CEO, joined a conversation with Margaret Young and Vijay Naraidoo to discuss the UN agenda and to find ways to embed human rights in daily programs and policy making. The Global Rally serves as key part of the Age With Rights campaign (#AgeWithRights), initiated by the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People (GAROP). The campaign provides an opportunity for people worldwide who support the stronger protection and promotion of older people’s human rights to unite in solidarity and call on governments to take action and support the drafting of the United Nations (UN) Convention on the rights of older people.
Global Ageing Network members signed the petition urging governments to start drafting the convention.
