The Global Ageing Network board of directors is excited to welcome Kim Gaskell, chief operating officer for the RiverWoods Group, northern New England’s largest system of Continuing Care Retirement Communities. Gaskell’s unique background and experience will help the Global Ageing Network identify opportunities to offer insight into how to bridge the generational gaps, making the industry more inclusive and adaptable to the needs of both our seasoned professionals and emerging talent.
Some may recognize Gaskell from the 2023 Social Care International Workforce Summit in Glasgow, Scotland, in which she joined a panel of aged care professionals. Gaskell shared that the conference “ignited a deep desire to be an integral part of this community, contributing to its growth and development.”
Gaskell is a licensed nursing home administrator and a certified Working Genius facilitator. In her current role, she oversees the operations for all three RiverWoods Communities which encompasses 1,100 residents and about 1,000 employees. She joined the RiverWoods community in 2018 as the executive director for their newest community in Durham, New Hampshire. Under her leadership, the community achieved record-breaking occupancy success, achieving 95% stabilized occupancy in just under four months.
Gaskell plays a pivotal role in creating standards and consistency across the system, leading expansion projects at each community, and focused work on employee culture, retention, and preparing for the ever-changing post-COVID workforce.
At the core of her work is a belief in making lives better for the senior population and those who serve it. She believes that one of the most successful ways to do this is not solely measured by individual accomplishments, but by the positive influence her leadership can have on others and the broader community. Her genuine passion for organizational and leadership development, as well as senior living, fuels her drive to create lasting and meaningful change within the industry.
