eJourney French Village
BY Global Ageing Network
Take an eJourney into the world’s first Alzheimer’s Village by the public sector
“It is actually just a new neighborhood of the city”, that is how public officer Francis Lacoste introduces the Village Landais Alzheimer, the world’s first Alzheimer’s Village spearheaded by the public sector.
Indeed, restoring normality to the daily life of people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease is the main goal of this innovative project mixing urban planning and dementia care in France’s southwestern city of Dax.
Launch on June 11th, the Village is a new home for 120 people living with dementia. They can count with the support of 120 care workers and 120 volunteers, as well as with the company of the citizens of Dax. The Village Landais Alzheimer is an attractive new neighborhood offering Dax citizens with a new media library, a children’s playground, a concert hall, gardens, hairdresser, and a very dynamic social life.
In partnership with Dialog Health, the Global Ageing Network now brings you into the backstage of the world’s most innovative care organizations through exclusive video study tours: the eJourneys.
In this eJourney you will be guided by Francis Lacoste, the initiator of the Village Landais Alzheimer, and by other operational members through the most important steps and challenges faced in the implementation of this unique dementia care model.
Judy Martin, Chair of Global Ageing Network:
“We join Dialog Health eJourney as it creates an ideal forum for our members to develop their skills, re-energize their projects, and keep the excitement about their profession.”
