IAHSA EXCELLENCE IN AGEING SERVICES AWARD: VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA (VOA)
Congratulations to Volunteers of America, recipient of the IAHSA Excellence in Ageing Services Award, for their training program focused on serving LGBT elders. The training has universal application and adoption potential by organizations around the world.
IAHSA EXCELLENCE IN APPLIED RESEARCH AWARD: DR. SANETTA DU TOIT
Congratulations to Dr. Sanet Du Toit, recipient of the IAHSA Excellence in Applied Research Award. Dr. Du Toit is recognized for her work at the University of the Free State in South Africa where she used mapping as a tool and process to train staff and further support person centered care. Her work has influenced practice at both the individual level focused on how staff interact with elders as well as the organizational level in advancing person-centered care elders.
CITATION OF HONOR: THE SALVATION ARMY – AGED CARE PLUS
The Salvation Army – Aged Care Plus has been awarded a Citation of Honor for their work in providing specialised mental health care to older adults in Australia. Aged Care Plus offers a “home of peace and acceptance” for older persons with severe and persistently challenging behaviors associated with mental illness.
The awards were presented to their recipients during the IAHSA-ACSA Global Ageing Conference in Perth Australia!
