2026 Global Ageing Network Leadership Program
The Global Ageing Network is excited to offer our second Leadership Program beginning in February 2026. Through six interactive virtual sessions, participants will explore critical themes shaping the future of aged care—from global trends and leadership principles to workforce, technology, and inclusion—guided by experienced leaders and innovators in the field.

About the Program
To build the leadership skills and attributes of professionals in aged care and services and develop a peer network of leaders from a variety of countries and organizations. The learning objectives include:

Program Session Details
Session One: Understanding the Global Landscape of Aged Care
This opening session will set the stage by examining the global forces transforming aged care. Participants will gain insight into demographic trends, emerging technologies, and innovative service models that are redefining how societies support older adults. The discussion will explore how leaders can respond to the challenges of ageing populations while fostering international collaboration and shared learning across borders.

Session Two: Creating a Culture of Caring
A thriving aged care organization begins with a culture rooted in compassion, respect, and shared purpose. This session will focus on the principles of person-centered leadership and strategies to create care environments that empower staff, engage residents, and foster wellbeing. Participants will reflect on their own leadership practices and identify ways to cultivate trust, empathy, and resilience within their teams.

Session Three: Supporting Diverse Elders
As societies become increasingly diverse, aged care leaders must understand and respond to the varied cultural, social, and personal needs of older adults. This session will highlight inclusive approaches to care that honor identity, background, and community. Case studies will showcase innovative practices supporting LGBTQ+ elders, older adults in low-resource settings, and individuals from different cultural traditions.

Session Four: Addressing Workforce Challenges in Aged Care
A resilient, skilled, and motivated workforce is the foundation of quality aged care. Yet workforce shortages and burnout remain pressing global challenges. This session will explore practical leadership strategies to attract, develop, and retain care professionals. Participants will discuss innovative workforce models, professional development initiatives, and ways to strengthen workforce wellbeing and engagement.

Session Five: The Promise of Technology in Aged Care
Technology is reshaping the landscape of aged care, from digital health tools and smart home systems to AI-assisted care and data-driven decision-making. This session will examine how technology can enhance quality, efficiency, and independence for older adults—while emphasizing the leadership needed to integrate technology ethically and effectively.

Session Five: Dementia Care and Future Directions (Optional)
This capstone session will focus on dementia care as a lens for leadership, innovation, and empathy. Participants will explore new research, person-centered approaches, and global initiatives supporting people living with dementia and their families. The session will also provide an opportunity for reflection on key lessons from the series and strategies to sustain leadership growth beyond the program.

The series will consist of six interactive sessions, each delivered virtually, and include:
- Case studies and examples from the global aged care sector.
- Peer-to-peer learning facilitated by leaders in our field.
- Dialogue about challenges leaders confront and successful strategies to overcome these challenges.
- The primary language will be English (translation will be available via Wordly.ai).
- Each session will be 90 minutes.
- Participants may be asked to review supplemental materials (articles or videos) before/after each session.
- Participants will have access to shared resources and speaker presentations.
- Participants will have the opportunity to create a new network of friends and colleagues.
The program is provided at no cost for Global Ageing Network members.
