Common Age, in partnership with TAFTA and Fulbright Commission, will host the Fulbright Specialist Train the Trainer Programme (TSP) on Elder Care—a FREE training opportunity for U.S. academics and professionals to provide short-term training and expertise to international host organizations.
Who Will Benefit from TSP?
Practitioners including social workers, administrators, activity coordinators, nurses, occupational therapists, etc. working with older persons living with dementia and other psychiatric illnesses. Note: Participants will be required to train at least six other people upon completion of the programme.
What’s the Focus of the Programme?
- The neurology system, behavioral disorders, dementia, person-centered planning and care.
- The impact of ageing-related neurological changes on the cognitive and physiological functioning of older adults.
- How to best manage challenging behavior presented by older adults with age-related cognitive deficits.
Who is the Trainer?
Professor Renu Varughese from New York, comes highly recommended with extensive experience and expertise in the fields of gerontology, dementia, educational facilitation, and curriculum design.
What is the Cost?
The training programme is FREE! If you are traveling from outside Durban, South Africa, you are accountable for the cost of accommodations and travel.
