The Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People (GAROP) will be hosting an online panel discussion focused on older people’s right to long term and palliative care, which is one of the two new focus areas for the ninth session of the UN Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing in 2018. The webinar, “Long Term and Palliative Care in Older Age” will take place on Wednesday, 8 November 2017 at 9am EST.
The discussion, moderated by GAROP Co-chair, Ken Bluestone,features panelists Bethany Brown of Human Rights Watch and Dr. Atiqur Rahman of Bangladesh Association for the Aged and Institute of Geriatric Medicine (BAAIGM).
They will address the following questions:
How do we define long term and palliative care?
What is unique or specific about long term and palliative care in older age?
How explicitly do existing legal frameworks address issues of long term and palliative care in older age?
